As the last long weekend of the year draws closer, it’s time to start finding some unforgettable August bank holiday events in Liverpool. From amazing music festivals, to unique LEGO events, themed afternoon teas and days out in the park, there are so many great things to do across Merseyside.

Creamfields
Where: Daresbury

First up in our guide to the very best August Bank Holiday events is one of the world’s biggest dance festivals, Creamfields. Returning to Daresbury this year from August 24 to 27, festival goers can expect stunning stage line-ups, thrilling fairground rides and the return of the legendary Steel Yards Arena. Dance the weekend away, covered in glitter, as some of the biggest names in the industry take to the stage, including Alesso, Armand Van Helden, Tiesto, Fat Boy Slim and many more. Tickets are limited but there is still a chance to bag yourself a two-day or day ticket.
Sketch in the Sculpture Gallery
Where: Walker Art Gallery
Enjoy a bit of culture this Bank Holiday weekend with a wonderful drawing and sketch class at the Walker Art Gallery. Open and available for all artistic abilities, during the session you will be guided through by one of the gallery’s Visitor Hosts, who will help you discover your inner artist. Taking place between 11am and 1pm on Sunday 26th August, all materials will be provided at this free drop-in event.
Folk on the Dock
Where: Royal Albert Dock
Returning for its third year, Liverpool’s much-loved folk festival will be setting up on the iconic Royal Albert Dock once again. This year a new venue will be added to the programme, with an exclusive ticketed launch event featuring a mystery headline artist to take place on Friday 24 August in the Museum of Liverpool. Hosted by the Janice Long, the contemporary Dock Stage also incorporates the Liverpool Shanty Festival, with music on boats around the water’s edge.
Crosby and Waterloo Food and Drink Festival
Where: Burbo Bank
From August 25 to 27 the very first Crosby and Waterloo Food and Drink Festival will take place at Burbo Bank. From 11am to 7pm each day, you will have the chance to sample delicacies from 40 independent traders, bringing you the best that the Liverpool foodie scene has to offer. This festival will be completely eco-friendly, all traders will be serving their food and drink in 100% biodegradable and recyclable products.
Constellations Summer BBQ
Where: Constellations, Baltic Triangle

This Bank Holiday weekend, Constellations will be hosting a summer BBQ featuring mouth-watering meaty, veggies and vegan treats, delicious drinks and a soundtrack of back-to-back disco and house music from DJs Four to the Floor and Rotation. Entry is completely free for this unmissable August Bank Holiday event on Saturday 25th August.
The Great Brick Adventure
Where: Exhibition Centre Liverpool
Showcasing some of the world’s best brick-made models, this incredible exhibition includes life-sized safari animals, mythical creatures and larger-than-life warrior robots fighting in an autobot arena. Get stuck in with speed-building challenges, brick wall art and selfie corners and look out for brick-builds of Earl Grey the Elephant, Harriet the Hippo and Cylops the one-eyed giant. The perfect activity for children and big kids, this is one of the best August Bank Holiday events on the list, taking place between 25th and 27th August.
Big Luv August Affair
Where: The Shankly Hotel
One of the biggest dance parties Liverpool has seen, Big Luv is returning to The Shankly Hotel for another showstopping event in the stunning Garden of Eden on Friday 24th August. Showcasing over 20 DJs and PAs, this amazing event is the perfect way to give summer a big send off. Enjoy gorgeous views over the Liverpool skyline, while indulging in a day and night of sun-soaked house anthems. Camp and Furnace Bank Holiday Party
Where: Camp and Furnace, Baltic Triangle

Head to Camp and Furnace on Sunday 26th August for ‘Gold Digger’, an old school Hip Hop and RnB party that you won’t want to miss out on. As well as the greatest 90s and 00s Hip Hop hits, you will be treated to glitter stations, fun inflatables and hundreds of free crowns so you can be the king and queens you were born to be. Tickets cost £5.50 and can be found on Skiddle.
Swing Afternoon Tea
Where: 30 James Street
Indulge in a luxurious afternoon tea featuring delicious finger sandwiches, sweet treats and prosecco while you’re transported to a world of song and dance with live performances and sing-alongs. Taking place within the historic interior of the White Star Grand Hall at the home of the Titanic on Sunday 26th August, this is the perfect event for all the family and something you’re sure to remember for years to come.
The Wirral Triathlon
Where: West Kirby Marina

Get active this Bank Holiday, burn off those summer BBQ and take on the Wirral triathlon. Organised by Epic Events, this amazing challenge will take place at West Kirby Marina on Sunday 26th August and is open to all abilities. The open water swim will take place in the marina lake, followed by 2 laps of the course by bike and 2 laps around the lake by foot.
Croxteth Park Walled Garden
Where: Croxteth Hall
As part of the National Open Garden Scheme, around 3,700 beautiful private gardens are opening for charity across the UK. This Bank Holiday weekend, the scenic two acre Victorian Walled Garden at Croxteth Hall will be opened up for your enjoyment between 11.30am and 5pm on Sunday 26th August. After a good wander around the gardens you will have the chance to enjoy a cup of tea and some home-made cake.
Hoylake RNLI Open Day
Where: Hoylake Promenade

Hoylake Lifeboat’s annual Open Day returns to Hoylake Promenade in support of the RNLI. This free event will include a funfair, an air display, trade stands, charity stalls, raffles, and tours of a lifeboat. It’s the perfect place to spend your long weekend and one of the best August Bank Holiday events on our guide.
