The perfect place for pre-drinks, an intimate dining experience or even a baby shower, this opulent bar and restaurant is fun and welcoming.
A truly delicious place to eat and drink, Verdant is a cracking bet for a belated catch up, awesome food and a mouth-watering cocktail or two.

From bitesize plates from Barcelona to Greek gyros from Athens, the food in this Mediterranean restaurant is both mammoth and delicious in equal measure.
Opened in 2018 and the perfect place for meat lovers, Grilla is a Greek taverna like no other. Since opening last year, the fabulous venue serves up a fresh and extensive menu, cooked on real charcoal.
Their speciality, however, is their traditional pita gyros. This gigantic Greek dish includes a whole range of ingredients including onions, peppers, tomatoes, cheese and succulent chunks of chicken wrapped in a pita bread laden with fries.

Born in the summer of 2016 out of a desire to bring delicious Middle Eastern food to Allerton Road, Maray’s aim is to serve tasty, flavoursome food in a cosy environment.
Seating 74 people over two floors – including a gorgeous outside area for those rare sunny days, Maray is a perfect neighbourhood spot for a Sunday roast and a few cocktails.
From juicy lamb shawarma, herb feta, apricot and pistachios to salted chocolate & bergamot tart, Maray’s menu is wide ranging and delicious – making it one of the absolute best places to eat on Allerton Road.

What was once the Smooze, this recently re-branded bar is quirky, fun, dog-friendly and welcoming. Featuring a heavy pop-art interior and cosy bucket seats, The Dog House is one of the best bars in Liverpool.
Make sure you pop in on a Thursday or Sunday when bands such as ‘Just for the Record’ and ‘Duke Box Durie’ take to the stage – or floor, depending on how you see their performance area.
Indeed, The Dog House is not only a favourite amongst local residents, but it’s also one of our favourite bars on Allerton Road.

Now, we’re aware that The Dovey featured on our guide to the best bars and restaurants on Smithdown Road however, it does have an L18 postcode and therefore deserves its place on this list.
Tucked away down Penny Lane, this grandiose pub serves delicious food and a good pint – which is the most important thing, of course. What’s more, rumours suggest that Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, stayed here while in Liverpool.
Featuring a largely wooden interior and stunning mosaic floor, The Dovey is a loveable relic of times gone by that people, young and old, can enjoy today.

You won’t be able to resist the flashing lights that burst through the windows as you turn up at The Other Place. Although not a new establishment, The Other Place is a unique edition to the L18 scene, with bohemian furnishings and disco lighting.

Honourable Mentions include The Eastern Diner, an iconic Chinese restaurant that specialises in Oriental cuisine.
The Brian Clarke Butchers – although not strictly a restaurant, serve delicious meats and concentrate on working alongside sustainable and organic farms. They’ve also been a fixture in L18 since 1973.
