Our Guide to the Best Desserts in Liverpool

When you’ve got a sweet tooth, the most important part of every meal is definitely the dessert. To be honest, sometimes we’d rather skip starters and mains and head right to the pud! Liverpool’s full of amazing places to eat, and the puddings on their menus are nothing short of perfect. From chocolate tarts to takeaway waffles, this beautiful city has everything a sugar fiend could ever want.

Featuring the best sweet treats that Liverpool has to offer, our guide to the best desserts in Liverpool is here to help satisfy those cravings.

Salted Caramel filled Churros from Midnight Delivery

Midnight Delivery is revolutionising the dessert game in Liverpool. They deliver sweet treats straight to your door! Try their salted caramel filled churros, Nutella & Malteser brownie with white & milk chocolate or even try a massive fizzy share size pick & mix box!

Coffee Braised Doughnut from Carpathia

Served with a milk sorbet and salted coffee crumb, this pud from fine-dining extraordinaire Carpathia is not one to miss. With a perfect combination of sweet and salty, the Coffee Braised Doughnut is a great option for those who want something a little different.

Strawberry Shortcake Waffle from Kaspa’s

When it comes to desserts, Kaspa’s is king. They’re the experts in all things sugar, spice and all things nice! Their Strawberry Shortcake Waffle is a warm, fresh waffle served with strawberries and a shortcake crumble, drizzled with white chocolate sauce. You can even get a scoop or two of your favourite ice creams, whipped cream, pouring cream or custard on top.

Kalúa Mocha Macaroon from Alma de Cuba

Think macaroon, but bigger. This is a giant macaroon served with mocha ice cream! Perfectly sugary, crunchy and soft in the middle, this pudding is really tasty. Plus, you can’t beat eating in surroundings like these. The converted church boasts some really unique architecture and décor. You get candlelight, cosiness and even gospel choirs every Sunday to accompany your meal!

Coconut Cream Bun from Bonbon Bakery

Step inside Liverpool’s Bonbon bakery and you’ll be met with a wide array of delectable Chinese treats, both sweet and savoury. The coconut cream bun is one of our favourites, alongside the chilled mango pudding and fresh fruit slices!

Homemade Tiramisú from Veeno

With delicious layers of cream, coffee-dipped sponge, mascarpone cheese and more secret ingredients freshly put together from their Grandma’s famous recipe, this light and fluffy dessert from Veeno is one hundred per cent indulgence. If they’re all sold out, then opt for the Tortino Ricotta e Pere – a frozen dessert made from pears and ricotta cheese. A real taste of Italy!

Tucked away just off Hardman Street, The Wild Loaf micro-bakery is a real hidden gem of Liverpool. Their doughnuts are mini marvels filled with heavenly flavour combination and our favourites are topped with delicious fresh fruit and cream. You’ll have to be quick, though, these fly off the shelves within a matter of minutes!

Chocolate Ravioli from Crust

Yep, you read right! This special sweet treat is made up of sugary, handcrafted ravioli and filled with a deeply decadent chocolate sauce. Don’t knock it ‘till you try it!

Chocolate Brownie Spring Rolls from Miyagi

Miyagi on Allerton Road is famed for its Pan-Asian inspired menu and impressive interior, but did you know they also boast a really tasty dessert menu? The Chocolate Brownie Spring Rolls are the star of the show when it comes to Miyagi’s desserts, served with a delectable single scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. Holy moly, these are good!

Doughnut Sandwich from Portland St 358

If there’s anything better than one doughnut, it’s two doughnuts. Specifically, it’s two-ring doughnuts filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with caramel sauce. We highly recommend leaving plenty of room for this one – or if you can resist, share it with someone! Portland St 358’s Crispy Doughnut is also amazing, featuring two battered doughnuts, topped with banoffee and cinder toffee ice cream, caramel and chocolate syrup. Mouth-wateringly good.

Pancakes from The Bagelry

These aren’t just your average stack. Oh no. Every day, The Bagelry serve a different flavour and topping combination every day. Check their specials board for the day’s flavour. Vegan options are always available.

Salted Caramel Tart from The Bastion

Set in the Shankly Hotel in the city centre, The Bastion serves good, hearty grub with a fine dining twist. Their salted caramel tart is to die for, and especially good since it’s paired with pistachio ice cream & chocolate tuille. Their White Chocolate Mousse is also noteworthy, served with shortbread, caramelised white chocolate pannacotta, lemon & blackberry. Yum!

Gulab Jamun from Mowgli

If you’re looking for a dessert with a difference, the Gulab Jamun from Mowgli is perfect! It’s described as the ‘ultimate Indian dessert.’ Syrupped milk dough balls are served warm with fresh ice cream. If that doesn’t float your boat, then a Mango Lassi is the perfect way to end a meal full of flavour and spice!

Crema Catalana from Salt House Tapas

Salt House Tapas’ Crema Catalana with orange & cinnamon is a zesty, indulgent treat with all the heartiness of a traditional Spanish dessert. Pair with an after-dinner coffee and you’ve got the best combination going.

Salted Chocolate & Bergamot Tart from Maray

Maray is famed for their showstopping roasted cauliflower, but when it comes to after-dinner treats, they really knock it out of the park. Silky, indulgent and the perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness, this dessert is served with a lovely light Chantilly. A vegan option is also available!
