School is out for the summer, which means parents are now left with the daunting task of entertaining the kids.

Not to worry, here at Signature’s Liverpool we have all the bases covered. So, whether you’re looking for some fun activities or keen to broaden your horizons and learn more about Liverpool’s extensive history, our guide is full of family friendly activities to keep the whole clan entertained this summer in Liverpool.

Baltic Market Opening Week

When: 30th June– July 6th

Located in the iconic Cains Brewery, the Baltic market is a brand-new street food market celebrating Liverpool’s independent businesses.

From farmers markets to cinema nights, this week is set to be fun-filled and action-packed.

Street food aficionados will be familiar with house-hold names such as Slim’s Pork Chop Express and Timmy Tikka’s, who will be in attendance alongside some great music from resident DJs.

Knowsley Safari

When: Open everyday 10am-5pm

Because who doesn’t love animals, right?

Knowsley Safari Park is the perfect place to take the kids for a guaranteed enjoyable and educational day out.

Just be careful of the monkeys who may try and get a little too friendly with your windscreen-wipers!

At just £15 entry per car, it’s a small price to pay for a fantastic family day out.

Fine Tuned at the British Style Collective

When: 8th and 9th July

If you fancy yourself as a fashionista or your just into your style, the British Style Collective are hosting one of Liverpool’s best events this summer.

Fiercely independent design makers and vintage traders are joined by street food vendors and classic car displays to showcase some of the best designers in Liverpool, both modern and vintage.

This weekend will be one of Liverpool’s biggest fashion events yet, so don’t miss out.

Walker Art Gallery

When: Open everyday 10am-5pm with special workshops in 28th July

Expand your horizons with a cultural trip to the Walker Art Gallery this summer.

With fashion exhibits and works from Monet, Rembrandt and Freud, this fantastic gallery will keep you and your family entertained for hours.

Entry is completely free everyday so there’s no excuse to learn something new!

Special workshops and talks have been scheduled for the 28th July, so check it out.

Fairytale Afternoon Tea at The Shankly Hotel

When: 10th September

If the little ones have been well behaved all-year, this is the perfect treat for your very own prince or princess.

Enjoy afternoon tea in the company of Disney’s own fairytale characters for a truly remarkable experience and a day the kids won’t forget at The Shankly Hotel.

With delicious finger sandwiches, plenty of cakes and some amazing sweet treats, this is an afternoon tea perfect for families.

Bring the kids along to meet their favourite fairytale characters and enjoy a day out in Liverpool packed with fairytale fun.

As well as a delicious afternoon tea guests can have their faces painted in the style of their favourite Prince or Princess. Once the service has finished each guest can take away a goody bag filled with special magical treats to remember the event.

Sefton Park

Whether you are looking to enjoy a nice romantic stroll in a picturesque location or you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids to feed the ducks, Sefton Park is the ideal spot for everyone.

Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF)

When:  20th – 23rd July

Europe’s largest free music event returns to Liverpool, and it never fails to disappoint.

This year you can expect to see household names such as Gorgon City, Naughty Boy and Kate Nash performing at the festival.

Hosted in Liverpool’s very own Sefton Park and with amazing acts, food stalls and shops, we can’t believe entry is completely free!

So, get down to Sefton Park and take advantage of seeing this star-studded line up perform live!

The Big Fat Charity Quiz of the Year

When: 11th August

Test  your quiz knowledge, have fun with your family and raise money for a super cause all at the same time with the fantastic Big Fat Charity Quiz.

All proceeds from the event will be given to supporting Charlie Connick, a local 3-year-old who may never walk unaided without surgery.

Truly a wonderful cause, we believe this is a fantastic way to raise money and test your knowledge in a fancy dress quiz!

Tickets are £11.25 for a team of 6, so get your sidekicks together and make sure you’re there on the 11th August.

Magical Mystery Tour

When: Tours depart 10am daily

Calling all Beatles’ fans!

There is simply no better way to see the childhood homes of John, Paul, George, and Ringo than with this fabulous tour that gives a great history of the band that took the world by storm.

Tickets are only  £17.95 and include a fantastic tour of the city’s many sights and all the spots the Beatles frequented.

Liverpool comedy club

When: Saturday 8th July

Described by the Liverpool Echo as ‘one of Liverpool’s must visit spaces’, the Liverpool Comedy Club speaks for itself.

Hosted inside Camp and Furnace every Saturday night, the comedy club boasts the cream of Liverpool’s comedy circuit, and at £13.50, it’s a steal for those looking to enjoy a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

Maybe not one for younger children but teenager will love it.

Afternoon Tea at Panoramic 34

Panoramic 34’s faultless afternoon tea, paired with a stunning view of the Liverpool skyline make it the ideal location for both families and couples to enjoy a lovely afternoon out.

There is simply no greater way to appreciate great food and the stunning architecture of the City of Liverpool than from the tallest building in the city.

Antony Gormley’s Another Place

One of the most striking and beautiful landscapes in Merseyside, Crosby Beach is a idyllic destination for long walks, picnics in the sunshine or a paddle in the sea.

Gormley’s iron men sculptures are guaranteed to have you mesmerised, as they stand on the wonderful expanse of golden sand that is Crosby beach.

With no cost to the public, this is an absolute must if you find yourself in the area this summer.

Sea Gods and Goddesses – International Slavery Museum

When: 1st August, 1pm-4pm

Liverpool is full of amazing free activities and one of the most exciting is the sea themed event in the International Slavery Museum.

On August 1st, families can help their kids create amazing Sea Gods or Goddesses, inspired by the mythology of Haiti.

This event is part of a series of summer events the museum are  running, so be sure to take a look at what else they have planned over the  summer holidays.

Sir Peter Blake: Everybody Razzle Dazzle

When: Between 10-4 daily

The Godfather of British pop art and the designer of the Beatles’ album cover of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’, Sir Peter Blake is a favourite in Liverpool.

For this summer he has transformed the Mersey ferry ‘Snowdrop’ into a moving piece of art featuring eye catching murals and multi-coloured paint work it is not to be missed.

Visitors who board the Snowdrop can expect to learn more about the Dazzle and the role that the Mersey ferries took during the First World War.

Have a Perfect Picnic in Calderstones Park

With the weather cracking the flags recently and showing no sign of changing, there is no better way to celebrate the Great British summer than with an old-fashioned picnic.

With more parks than Paris, there is no excuse for anyone in Liverpool to not get out there and take advantage of this glorious weather.

Calderstones Park is one of the city’s most beautiful, nestled next to Strawberry Fields, this gorgeous park features an ornamental garden and a playground for the children.

The Beatles Story

There aren’t many better ways to increase your Beatles knowledge than to take The Beatles Story tour.

Learn where the Fab four spent their childhoods, how they were propelled to stardom their solo careers and how things panned out for the boys after their career as a group.

Adult tickets are reasonably priced at £15.95, however group rates are also available for families.

Aquarium at the World Museum

When: Open 10am-5pm everyday

With free entry, the aquarium is the perfect place to take the kids if they need entertaining for the day.

With the variety of fish stretching from Anglesey to Australia, the family can be entertained and educated on all things under the sea!

Whilst you’re there, why not check out the rest of the museum, it’s completely free.

Catch a play at the Everyman

Liverpool is home to some of the best actors in the country and one of the best places to catch them is at the stylish Everyman theatre on Hope Street.

With extremely reasonable prices, the theatre is an ideal day out or summer evening activity.

There is plenty on over the summer and with the outdoor terrace in the bar, you can soak up the last of the rays in between scenes.A summer in Liverpool is always bursting with cultural, history, education, music, art and delicious food and drink.
