Last year, Liverpool locals were delighted to hear that the city would be playing host to MCM Comic Con. And it’s safe to say that it was a great success. Attendees travelled from far and wide to meet some of their favourite stars and be transported into the weird and wonderful world of movies, games, comics, anime, television, gadgets clothing and toys.
Next month, the highly anticipated pop-culture event will be making its return between 11-12 March 2017. And with tickets still up for grabs, now is the perfect time to secure your place before the big day!
MCM Comic Con brings together cosplayers, self-confessed games geeks, fan boys and fan girls alike. With celebrity guests announced at a gradual pace before the day, there’s always an influx of excitement swirling around each event.
So, for more insight into what MCM Comic Con Liverpool has in store for March 2017, we’ve compiled a look at what we know so far.

Costumes that Mean Business
Yes, when we said cosplayers mean business, we weren’t exaggerating. On the big day, you’re likely to see several Harley Quinn’s, Batman’s and Jokers strolling through the city, so don’t be alarmed!
You don’t have to dress up to attend, but we suspect that it’s a lot of fun. Attendees can spend weeks planning and hand crafting their costumes from scratch, and this is one of the most exciting parts of the day.
Anything goes at Comic Con. Whether you’re an anime fan or you fancy dressing as Princess Zelda, the weekend is a nostalgic trip back in time for adults and teenagers, where they can leave all worries behind and enjoy dressing up, playing games and making new friends without any care in the world. And that’s something that shouldn’t be missed!
Explore Comic Village and Sales Tables
Exploring Comic Village tables can take up as much time as you choose. A week before the show, guests can check out a full exhibitor floor plan for finding what they’re after.
The village showcases comic creators of all backgrounds and styles, providing something for everyone at the event. Creators and fans are brought together by their mutual passions, which is really something special.
Around a variety of sales tables, attendees will also discover unique and exciting merchandise, art, books, accessories, gifts and clothing to take home.
Meet your Favourite Stars
Arguably the most important part of the event, MCM Comic Con offers the chance to meet some of the best loved pop culture icons of all time. Though the full line up of names isn’t released until nearer to the event, there’s already been a fantastic list of confirmed attendees.
This year, Liverpool attendees will have the chance to see Starsky & Hutch stars David Soul, Paul Michael Glaser and Antonio Fargas, while more guests include Sherlock’s Louise Brealey, the iconic “Flash Gordon” Sam J. Jones, Doctor Who’s Peter Davison and Attack on Titan’s Trina Nishimura.
Comic Con goers can look forward to meeting their favourite star guests in in autograph and photo sessions throughout the weekend, which tickets can be purchased online in advance. Of course, attendees can also catch a glimpse of the stars on the MCM Main Stage, where they’ll be chatting about their latest projects and answering some fan questions.
Comic Con for Kids
MCM Comic Con Liverpool also welcomes mini fan girls and fan boys to get involved in the action! There’s plenty of fun arranged for children to take part in, including the chance to dress up in an official MCM Kids Mini Superhero Cape.
To keep the little ones busy, the aim of the game is to pick up a card from the Information Point and then work your way around the exhibition, collecting stickers that will guarantee you a cape!
Kids can also enjoy some relaxed face-painting, which means you don’t have to worry too much about costumes. Whether they feel more like Spiderman or more like Wonder Woman on the day, the Comic Con team can do the trick for FREE all weekend.
If you’re in need of a quick break from the excitement, then don’t fret. You can head over to the CM Reading Corner, where children can sink into a comfy bean bag and get cosy with imaginative books bound to boost their creativity.
And last but not least, expect to see some wide-eyed faces as the kids are given the chance to meet the one and only Lorax! The lovable character will be nestled amongst his forest, and he’s keen to chat about protecting it!
