The Most Amazing Bakes in Liverpool

We’re not going to lie, we here at Signature’s Liverpool are far too excited for The Great British Bake Off. We therefore thought it was high time to celebrate our city’s very own star bakers. Take a look at the most amazing bakes made Liverpool, in no particular order…

Chocolate Almond Cake

Where: Leaf

Do you have a gluten intolerance? Well, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a piece of cake – not at Leaf on Bold Street, anyway. They are offering a delicious Chocolate Almond Cake, which is pretty darn pretty, too.

Red Velvet Millionaire Cookie Cake

Where: The Cow and Co Cafe

Forget everything you know about cakes and take yourself along to The Cow and Co Café pronto. That’s because they regularly serve up some Red Velvet Millionaire Cookie Cakes, which are simply to die for. Not into red velvet? You’re crazy, but okay, you can always opt for the Kit-Kat cookie cake, which is, in fairness, pretty fantastic, too.

Paris Brest

Where: Artisane

Paris Brest is best, don’t you agree? This delicate French dessert offers the perfect combination of choux pastry and praline-flavoured cream. When it comes to bakes, Artisane knows how it’s done. This Woolton Road bakery is so good it could make even Paul Hollywood smile.

Jammy Dodger & Party Ring Cake

Where: Laura’s Little Bakery

It’s impossible not to fall in love with all the cakes and bakes at Laura’s Little Bakery. When the Mum of three isn’t spending her time looking after her children, she’s creating creative bakes that are simply out of this world – and are made from just 1% fat milk, free range eggs and with less butter than a standard cupcake. Seriously, how could you not just adore a Jammy Dodger & Party Ring cake?

Naked Wedding Cake

Now this cake is a little naughty, because it’s completely naked (apart from cream and berries, that is). This nakey cakey from the Hope Street bakery is made up from Victoria sponge (obviously), toffee apple, Mojito and salted caramel tiers. This must be what heaven tastes like.

Vanilla and Salted Caramel Scoop Cake

Where: Say It With Flours

Braidy the baker is a little bit in love with baking, which is why she’s regularly in the kitchen baking up some marvellous cakes for others to enjoy. This vanilla and salted caramel scoop cake looks almost too good to eat… but we still would. You’ll find her regular bakes at The Baltic Social, Lunya, Coopers Coffee Shop and Onion Deli.

Luxury Cupcakes

Where: Terry Tang Designer Cupcakes

Terry Tang offers so many delicious cupcakes that we struggled to pick just one. Plus, this Wavetree baker often sells cupcakes for just £1 each, so we just had to give them all a mention, didn’t we? You can try everything from the Luxury Flake Cake, Banoffee, Chocolate Nutella & Hazelnut, Chocolate Rolo, Vanilla Sprinkle and many more.

It takes a gentle hand to create such a beautiful cake as the one pictured above, but that’s exactly the type of bakes you’ll expect to find at this Woolton Road restaurant. So, the next time you’re in the neighbourhood, grab yourself a slice from Neighbourhood.

Dutch Apple Pie with Cream and Custard

Lark Lane is simply alive with fabulous food, tasty drinks and an electric atmosphere. One thing they also offer is some amazing bakes at Green Days Café, which is serving up delicious vegetarian and vegan food. There are plenty of cakes and bakes to choose from at this popular café, including this delicious Dutch apple pie with cream and custard.

Fruit Tarts

Where: The Quarter

Can you believe a cake can look this pretty? We can’t. If you want to make yourself feel a little bit better when devouring a scrummy bake, you could always opt for a little fruit tart from The Quarter on Hope Street, which are more colourful than Mary Berry’s jackets. Topped with a variety of fresh berries, it will make you feel a little bit better about being a little bit naughty.

Cannoli di Ricotta Siciliani

Where: Paolo & Donato’s Deli

For a taste of Sicily in the heart of Liverpool, look no further than Paolo & Donato’s Deli on Williamson Square. Their delicate and delicious cannoli is created from the shells of fried pastry dough and is filled with ricotta cheese and chocolate chips. We’re a little bit in love.

Jam and Cream Scones

The Brunch Club

Where: The Brunch Club

For a traditional cake that will never disappoint, order yourself a jam and cream scone from The Brunch Club on Duke Street. Filled with jam and organic cream, and topped with fresh strawberries and cream, it will have you smiling down the high street.

Not only can you try a slice of carrot cake from Caz’s Kitchen, but you can often find them at Fredericks 32 and Isla Gladstone. This is one slice you won’t forget in a hurry! You can visit Caz’s Kitchen for a scrummy cake from 10am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
