Spring is almost upon us and that means St Patrick’s Day festivities are just around the corner! Though officially celebrated on 17th March, the fun always starts early in Liverpool.

From the most refreshing Irish beers to the very best of Irish tunes, there’s plenty going on this St Patrick’s Day in Liverpool, so don’t miss out on the fun!

The city of Liverpool has a deeply rooted history of ties to Ireland. In fact, the Irish famine saw 1.5 million migrants pass through the city and many choose Liverpool their new home.

By 1851 more than 20 per cent of the city’s population was Irish. Notably, the only places to have a larger Irish population were Dublin and New York.

Affectionately known as Ireland’s “second capital”, Liverpool even had distinctly Irish-speaking districts, including the area around Crosbie Street.

From the 15th – 18th March, you can enjoy the ultimate St Patrick’s Weekender, with Guinness and Hop House 13 Lager on the bar. There will also be a pop-up Irish whiskey bar to keep spirits high!

Not forgetting, a visit to Baltic Market wouldn’t be complete without your favourite food stalls. From wood fired pizza to halloumi fries, there’s something for everyone to indulge in.

St Patrick’s Day Parade

When: Saturday 17th March 2018

Where: Old Irish Centre, Liverpool

If you want to embrace Liverpool’s St Patrick’s Day traditions, look no further than the Liverpool St Patrick’s Day Parade 2018. The spectacular parade is perfect for getting in the spirit!

Assembling from Great Ordford Street at 12:30pm, the Paddy’s Day parade will set off through Mount Pleasant and Hope Street to Hardman Street, Leece Street, Renshaw Street, St Georges Plateau, Roe Street, Hood Street, Crosshall Street, Dale Street and lastly Castle Street. If you want to catch the ending of the parade, the festivities will come to a close at Derby Square.

This year’s parade currently has 7 confirmed bands to entertain the crowds, including Cloughaneely Band, Liverpool Irish Flute Band and City of Liverpool Pipe Band.

St Patrick’s Day 2018
