It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Liverpool and it’s all thanks to One Magical City. There are so many fantastic events taking place across the city thanks to this superb umbrella event, ensuring the festive season stands out in your mind for many years to come.
One Big Tree
You can rock around the UK’s tallest Christmas tree in Liverpool One, which is a whopping 30 metres tall and features 280 heart lights, spreading plenty of love across the city this Christmastime. Every day you can expect amazing light shows and even some musical numbers, ensuring you have that warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
If Jack Frost starts nipping at your nose, you could always take yourself along to Bar Hutte, which is located under the Liverpool One tree like a wonderful gift.
Warm up with a hot drink or embrace the festive season with a glass of beer. You can also choose to sit in one of ten huttes, which have themes such as carol-oke and disco.
Christmas in Chavasse Park
You will wish it could be Christmas every day when you visit Chavasse Park, as you can enjoy fresh crepes, hot chocolate, traditional bratwursts and a variety of Christmas market treats.
There will be fun for all the family at Chavasse Park this festive season, because the little ones can enjoy children’s rides whilst the adults can treat themselves to some mulled wine.
To ensure you and the kids have the most wonderful time of the year, we recommend paying a visit to St George’s Hall from Saturday 26th November, because you can meet 100 of your favourite DreamWorks characters at the iconic landmark, which will play host to 25 memorable scenes based on Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar.
So, come along to the illuminating experience at St George’s Hall to meet Shrek, Po and Alex until Sunday 15th January 2017.
Liverpool Christmas Markets
Liverpool’s Christmas Markets has a brand new home at St George’s Plateau, complementing the DreamWorks Lights at St George’s Hall.
Browse up to 50 stalls that are filled with all sorts of festive treats, arts and crafts, drinks and even a spot of street theatre. The markets will launch on Friday 18th November until 22nd December. Click here to find out more.
If you are dreaming of a white Christmas, make sure you have a walk along the Snowflake Trail, which is a festival of light and sound that will delight both young and old.
Enjoy giant sculptural snowflakes from the region’s finest visual artists, and become captivated by the dazzling lights, swirling soundscapes and interactive illustrations that will add a touch of whimsy and wonder to the Yuletide holiday. You are also free to play the illumaphonium in the Bluecoat, which stands more than three and a half metres tall and consists of 200 chime bars, which creates patterns of lights and sound.
Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival
Whether you’re a whizz on the ice or a bit of a novice, you will absolutely love the ice rink at the Pier Head, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland. If you’re not so confident on the ice, you could always hold onto one of the helpful penguins for support. The ice rink is open to children over the age of three years old.
Did you know the Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival offers the UK’s largest ever real ice slide? Now, if that’s not a good enough reason to try it then we don’t know what is. You can enjoy three speedy 30m runs, which are located 6m over the park. The ice slide is open to both adults and children, but you must be over 60cm tall.
If you thought an ice slide was impressive enough, take yourself along to the ice bar, which offers crystal clear sculptures and furniture that are each made from real ice. An ice bar session lasts 25 minutes and we recommend wrapping up warm or picking up one of their foil blankets.
Signature Grotto at The Garden of Eden
Signature Living has partnered with One Magical City to offer the city’s very first rooftop grotto in the Garden of Eden at The Shankly Hotel. The little ones will be transported into the magical Lapland, where they will have an opportunity to meet Father Christmas himself at his rooftop hideaway.
With beautiful views of Liverpool and a superb gift from good ol’ Saint Nick, this is one Christmas event your children will remember forever. The perfect place to visit after a day at DreamWorks Lights, browsing the Christmas markets or walking along the Snowflake Trail. You can event take the children along to The Bastion Bar & Restaurant to indulge in a spot of festive afternoon tea, offering a true taste of Christmas right here in Liverpool.
